The Map Is Not The Terrain (40k Manifesto)
Since last year we have improved our processes (see The Gray Card), clarified our standards (the all-seeing BOLTERCON 2026 Player Packet), and continuously updated the community on where we are going (so much fun in our Discord). And now, with just two Ptuesdays left until BOLTERCON 2026, let’s flesh out terrain yet again. Because it’s everywhere, all the time, and all at once (per edition).
BOLTERCON 2026 Updates & Introducing the Gray Card
Today we’re going to cover a lot of ground on two topics: the latest updates on BOLTERCON 2026 (only 4 Ptuesdays left AAAAA) and a new tool in our toolbox for clearly enforcing hobby standards called the Gray Card (aka the Grey Card). Your beloved and bedraggled Bolters at Dawn Staff are quite literally slaving away on terrain for the upcoming events, polishing those player packets, and fielding all manner of questions/clarifications/memes from our Bolters at Dawn club members and community. And that’s not only for BOLTERCON 2026 but for all the goings on in the hallowed halls of the clubhouse! Read on for more, or skip to the end for the TLDR.
BOLTERCON 2026 Shirts & Clubhouse Updates
The news is flowing and we’re going to get things out to our blessed Bolters at Dawn club members and community at a rapid pace over the next few weeks. Exciting times in BOLTERCON land with a swag drop and in the clubhouse with huge changes to the Swine City space. Read on for more!
The Road to BOLTERCON 2026 (and more)
Another year has passed, and we’re right back at it again. With BOLTERCON 2026 a cool, easy, not panic-inducing 90-ish days away, the time has come to blast the tidings of GREAT HYPE into the cyber-ether. If you’re already there, prepared to register, you can read all the rest of this later after you complete your registration. Mark your calendar for November 12th through 15th and grab those tickets now now now!
But wait there’s more happening in the second half of the year in the Bolters at Dawn clubhouse! We’ve got the Road to BOLTERCON 2026 RTTs in 40k, Age of Sigmar, and The Old World. Last, but certainly not least, we’ll talk a bit about our new hobby class in the clubhouse – The Whole Hobby Affair featuring Vince Venturella! Read on dear reader and consult your physician for hype overdose as required (can’t stop won’t stop).
Sigmarpocalypse II: Battle for the Crown
BOLTERCON 2026 registration opens soon. To whet your appetite, our esteemed Chief Hierophant Of Degenerate Extremists aka Devon H. would like to put some HYPE into your eyeballs – so read on, dear reader, to learn all about the conclusion of our Age of Sigmar league Primal Ascension in an epic Sigmarpocalypse showdown!
Florida Attacks: Revenge of the South on July 18th, 2026!
As we approach the 1 month countdown to the next visit from Kenny Boucher, it’s time to dive deep into what exactly we’re going to be doing. After that, we’ll recap the past events to show off just what an incredible opportunity to plus up those hobby skills with an in-person class. Anyone can watch/make a video online (selective edits and all) but it takes true skill, experience, and passion to teach in the flesh. That’s what Florida Attacks represents each and every year, especially this year for Revenge of the South!
Clubhouse and League Updates - May 2026!
It feels like yesterday I wrote up our plan for the first half of 2026. Upon further inspection, it was in fact NOT yesterday but over one hundred days ago! This will not stand – we have been insanely busy in the clubhouse with multiple club members multi-league drifting and our tireless Bolters at Dawn Staff expanding our store and club offerings. We’re going to be touching on league updates, club membership and store upgrades, and closing with our communication changes. Oh and a little upcoming event postscript. Without further ado, time to get going!
The First Half of the 2026 aka Narrative Season
Welcome to the first half of the 2026 Bolters at Dawn schedule! As is tradition, our year follows a rhythm – a natural ebb and flow of the competitive and narrative seasons. The opening months are devoted to narrative play and shared storytelling, with the second half of the year pivoting toward competitive events. What lies in store for this year? Read on to find out!
BOLTERCON 2025 Age of Sigmar: Mortal Realm Madness
From the BOLTERCON lead for Age of Sigmar: Devon! This year, we brought narrative and competitive spice from the Mortal Realms to all four (4!) days of BOLTERCON 2025. In this article, we will cover the 3 major events that took place across those storied days: Sigmarpocalypse, Spearhead RTT and Age of Sigmar GT .
BOLTERCON 2025 Recap - Warhammer 40k GT and Doubles
We put in the work and the results speak for themselves! BOLTERCON was bigger than ever this year, kicking off on November 13th and not even slowing down once until November 16th came to a close. A packed hall at the Holiday Inn West Chester, a supportive hotel staff & bartenders, and a schedule full of game systems means we’re exhausted… but also looking forward to MORE HYPE in 2026! Today, I’d like to give a recap of our Warhammer 40,000 events – the 38 player Grand Tournament and the 8 team Doubles events!
