Florida Attacks: Revenge of the South on July 18th, 2026!

As we approach the 1 month countdown to the next visit from Kenny Boucher, it’s time to dive deep into what exactly we’re going to be doing. After that, we’ll recap the past events to show off just what an incredible opportunity to plus up those hobby skills with an in-person class. Anyone can watch/make a video online (selective edits and all) but it takes true skill, experience, and passion to teach in the flesh. That’s what Florida Attacks represents each and every year, especially this year for Revenge of the South!

We did a writeup of the 2024 class on our blog previously, so give Florida Attacks! Recap – Kenny Boucher in the Clubhouse! a quick read if you aren’t familiar. We skipped the recap last year because it was the same 101 class from the Next Level Painting System. This year, exclusive for Bolters at Dawn club members, we’re going to a modified 201 class. Read on, dear reader, for more on what’s up for this year and all the details from the 2025 class.

Oh baby, we are incredibly extra super mega ProMax BACK in just 30-ish short days! I will not labor too much here, except to clear up some questions you may have or put words into your eyes that you may not have read yet. We are not normal, so we get a modified version of the Next Level Painting 201 class. How abnormal (in a good way)? Let’s find out, Q&A style:

  1. Do I have to have completed the 101 class to attend? No
  2. I have literally never painted, so can I attend? Yes, this class is for all
  3. I have been painting for 30 years, so is there anything for me? Yes, this class is for all
  4. I cannot stay the whole time, is that ok? Yes, just let us know ahead of time so we can prepare
  5. I do not own an airbrush, so is this class for me? Yes, we are all brushwork for 201
  6. Can I bring my airbrush and questions? Yes, we will get to it in the Q&A portion
  7. Is this for club members only? Yes, only club members are worthy of the task

Did we cover everything? Probably not, so hit us up in Discord or in email with your questions!

Our shirt design for this year is HYPE – so much so that Kenny did a remix for us. Get those orders in by July 8th to make sure they’re ready for the event. I mean, check them out:

As always, we get a ton of support from Kenny’s cadre of friends and partners: Game Envy, Elrik’s Hobbies, and Monument Hobbies! Students get to keep all the materiel, including the models we’re painting with and any extra goodies we have leftover. Look through those previous event pics and you’ll see just what a haul it is.

This year, we’re going to be doing so much glazing and brushwork that we needed to move on from ye olde Assault Intercessors. Exciting times call for extra dope models, and we’ve settles on Chaos Warriors and Sword Bretheren. You, as a blessed student of ancient techniques in meatspace, can work on both (or neither if you want to bring your own).

Plenty of opportunity for glazing, non-metallic metal, gems, lenses … oh my! We’re going to learn a lot, rage a lot, and bask in the glorious light of the literal best of all painting classes. Curious about previous classes? Keep on peeping these words as they continue below.

Recap: Swamped And Back For More (2025)

On July 19th, 2025, Kenny returned for another go at the Next Level Painting 101 class at the Bolters at Dawn clubhouse. Normal students take the class in parts, with homework as gatekeeping steps and coaching via video. Our extremely blessed Bolters at Dawn club members are definitely not normal so we get to hunker down in our hallowed halls and slam through all of 101! I cannot emphasize enough how polished and professional the class is, especially the digital presentation and demonstrations that precede the hands on portion of the class.

The concepts are illuminated in a way that lands with brand new painters and experienced hobbyists alike. My second time through the class I picked up on things I missed the first time – and I use something I learned in 101 every single time I sit down to paint. Worth the time and investment? Ask anyone and they’ll answer to the affirmative.

The first portion of 101 focuses on instilling the basic concepts of airbrush mechanics: how they work, how to properly use them, and the goals of applying paint. The net result of all of Kenny’s decades of experience is manifest and injected into students’ brains. With the practical application and direct coaching, those concepts really hit home. Have a burning question? Kenny is there to answer and show you the ancient techniques.

A huge takeaway from the class, aside from the airbrush work, is the Active Washing technique. It’s honestly something that doesn’t click until you can see it done, do it yourself, and adjust based on that real-time coaching feedback. Honestly, a huge plus-up for everyone’s toolbox that I did not see coming! Yes, you have probably used a wash. No, you most certainly have not unlocked Active Washing (unless you’ve been through the class).

I’ll go back to a point I make time and time again when talking about Kenny’s class in the clubhouse: it is for literally anyone of any skill level who wants to paint better, faster, and understand what’s going on! The last portion of the class is highlighting + brush techniques, and then the question and answer portion. Anything goes, including how to restore a used-up brush.

Yes, you have probably seen how to do these things. Yes, you are probably doing them and using things like online videos to improve. No, you have not unlocked the real upskill that the in-person coaching from Kenny provides.

Did I mention that the class for 2026 is on July 18th? If you made it this far, then the time has come to register for Revenge of the South without delay.
