The Countdown Is Pain

The trouble is you think you have time.

We’ve been busy in Bolters at Dawn land this year. So busy, we didn’t really see BOLTERCON sneaking up on us. Like some kind of angelic killer gorilla gilded in the screams of sleepless nights, it has quite slyly breached our perimeter. Now, we have 99 days (and many more actual problems) to corral this thing and make it something slightly less dangerous. Or maybe more efficiently dangerous. Too scared to think.

In preparation for this auspicious November event, we’ve started scaffolding out references for people interested in attending. Most importantly, the main launch point for BOLTERCON is:

For now, we have a placeholder with this absolutely dreadful countdown timer. I hate it and love it. From this URL we’ll be wiring up all the details you seek: tickets, player packets, dope web designed stuff, etc.

For those of you lamenting the lack of the 40k doubles event – BE YE NOT ALARMED! We are breaking out the narrative-focused 40k doubles event into its own thing in February. Keep your eyes peeled for when the 40k Double Date event lands in the calendar.

You can also keep your finger on the rapid Bolters at Dawn pulse in Discord using our faithful bot Servitor Fidelis. Wait, what is this bot? How can I learn more? If only there was some kind of reference or codex or something…

Current Things: The Hive War (40k) & The Crucible (AoS)

If you haven’t been following along, The Hive War is our long running (long suffering) Warhammer 40k narrative league. Three hive spires have been absolutely battling it out over every square inch of territory for months now. Intrigue, strategy, and all out crusade-related madness have been the mainstay, and now we are gazing towards the end game. Who will come out on top? What madness awaits in the new world of 10th edition? Will anyone survive? Stay tuned to find out in August!

The Crucible has taken many twists and turns. Running long-standing events while keeping people engaged is hard work, and our staff are definitely up to the challenge. The fate of Rustwallow continues to swing with each passing week. The grand finale (big kaboom) will be one of the lead events of BOLTERCON, so saddle up and make sure your team brings home the glory as a prelude to other glories!

Upcoming Things: The Rhine Realmgate Rumble RTT (AoS)

With the Crucible campaign coming to a close, the Rhine Realmgate Rumble RTT will be the perfect event to showcase the painted beauty and tactical power of your forces from the mortal realms. Registration cut off approaches soon, as we will be collecting lists August 4th. Make sure to join the Discord if you have questions and get signed up before space runs out!

New Things: Codex Bolters at Dawn

We have a lot of stuff going on all over the place, so the time is right to roll things up in a way that people can reference. We are loathe to do anything too fancy just yet (because, you know, BOLTERCON), but the basics are there. Head on over and check it out:

Wrapping Up

We cannot believe that we are over halfway through 2023, that Bolters at Dawn is three years old, and that BOLTERCON is 99 days away. Whomstever is in charge of the speed of time needs to back off the throttle a little. There are too many armies to paint, game systems to learn, and dope games to play in the clubhouse. Definitely strongly worded letter time.
